Seminars, training courses and special briefings on managing the media have been delivered for executives of Bank of Scotland, Scottish Widows, KPMG, IT companies, corporate law firms, and public-sector bodies, as well as university, college, industry and NUJ courses in Media Law, in Freelance Journalism and in Research & Interview Skills. For the third year I was a judge for the Epilepsy Scotland Journalist of the Year award, being joined in different years by Lorraine Kelly and Denise Mina. A week on a nuclear submarine during the Royal Navy’s infamous “Perisher” course means sleeping in the “bomb room”.
